Today there was plenty of action out off the coast of Ballina and Byron Bay. We enjoyed breaching, comp groups, muggings & tail slapping on our Byron Bay Whale Watching Cruises at 8:00am & 11:00am. Conditions are looking good this week, so be sure to book aboard our Byron Bay Whale Watching Cruise.
We’ve been enjoying lots of playful, young whales leading the migration. They are rowdy & inquisitive..and remind of us angsty teens! After countless tail throws beside the boat, this male decided to take a closer look and “people watch”. Being mugged is an unforgettable experience! We’re always in awe and overjoyed when our curiosity is reciprocated! 👀🐋

What is the best time for whale watching? The short answer is - there is no better time. Whales are active 24hrs of the day so we can never predict the behaviours they will be displaying for us (we wish we spoke whale!). Every day and cruise is different to the next - which is the beauty of witnessing these majestic giants in their natural wild habitat. The time of your cruise does fall more to personal preference. However, generally the early morning cruises this time of year can experience the calmer ocean and weather conditions. Although, we can often witness increased breaching action in windy conditions - so we advise to pick the best time suited to you and we will advise if there are any unsuitable conditions expected!

Breaches, peduncle throws, and constant surface action on today’s cruise these humpbacks were putting on a show. Possibly social behavior, maybe just showing off. Either way, it was unreal to witness. 🌊🛥️ #WhaleWatching #HumpbackWhales #MarineLife #OceanMoments

😆😱🤩 too many breaches to count! This whale headed our direction and breached just beside the boat before swimming under us! A moment we’ll always remember! Still riding this high! We had multiple groups around.. the humpback highway is getting busy & we’re off to an incredible start! 🙌

An unforgettable day on the water with some very intimate encounters! A curious juvenile humpback treated us to close breaches and some powerful caudal peduncle throws, making for an incredibly exciting tour. We also spotted several other individuals breaching in the distance — the Humpback Highway was going off today! Excited to see what tomorrow brings🐋💥🌊
